A packed stand-up paddleboard (SUP) is designed to be compact and portable. It fits the board and all accessories into a bag the size of luggage.

Once you're on the shore, remove the paddleboard from the bag and unroll it on a flat and clean surface. Ensure there are no sharp objects or debris on the ground.

Unscrew the valve cap, securely attach the pump hose, and inflate the SUP to 12–15 PSI based on your weight (12 PSI for lighter riders, 15 PSI for heavier riders)

Get your gear ready: paddle, leash, life jacket, a bottle of water, and any other essentials, ideally in a waterproof bag that you can hire from us. Secure the bag under the strap.

Carry the board by the center handle, keeping it secure under your armpit. Pick a launch spot with easy and gentle water access, like a beach or dock, and few obstacles.

Attach the leash to your ankle or calf to stay connected to your board if you fall. At the water’s edge, kneel on center of the board and paddle out slowly. Watch for rocks or shallow spots, and make sure the fin doesn’t hit the bottom. Start on your knees to get used to the board and balance.

When standing, keep feet hip-width apart, knees slightly bent, and weight evenly spread. Always watch out for boats, swimmers, and other water users.

How to get back on the board if you fall.

Firstly, don't panic!

  • Retrieve your paddle. Reach for your paddle and secure it under the front strap.
  • Hold the center handle. Position yourself beside the board, hold the center handle and start kicking your legs onto the board.
  • Pull yourself. Pull yourself up onto the deck. Try to keep your weight centered and evenly distributed to maintain stability.
  • Get onto your knees. Position yourself on your knees near the center of the board. Take a moment to stabilize yourself and regain your balance.
  • The right outfit. Wetsuit is the most suitable outfit for the Scottish's water temperature all year round. You can hire a wetsuit along with your paddleboard.
